The 30th Anniversary of Manggha Museum of Japanese Art and Technology
On 29th and 30th November, 2024 The 30th Anniversary of Manggha Museum of Japanese Art and Technology (Manggha Museum) was celebrated in Krakow, Poland.
On the first day of the event on the 29th, a media breakfast and an eve party were held, followed by the official ceremony on the 30th, which was attended by the Japanese Ambassador to Poland, the representative from the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage , the Deputy Governor of Małopolska County, the Mayor of Cracow, and other government officials. President Krystyna Zachwatowicz-Wajda, wife of the late film director Angrzej Wajda, who was one of the founding contributors, and Katarzyna Nowak, current director of the Manggha Museum, introduced the guests about the foundation of the museum . A piano and string quartet concert was also performed, and the guests gathered in the hall of the museum to remember the 30th anniversary of the Manga Museum.
Many guests from Japan also traveled to the Manggha Museum, and congratulatory speeches were delivered by those involved in funding the establishment of the Manggha Museum, as well as by Mr. Takaaki Ota, President of the Social Welfare Corporation Fukudenkai that has a relationship with the Manggha Museum through the donation of ceramic reliefs remembering Polish Siberian Children.
The Manggha Museum is named not after the Japanese culture “manga” but after Felix Manga Jasieński, one of the founding donors of the collection. As a museum that introduces Japanese art and technology to the Polish people, the Manga Museum is expected to further its activities as a bridge between Japan and Poland in the future.
