Samurai from Niebory – Paweł Pawlica
On 5th April 2024, the event named “Samurai from Niebory” was organized in the town of Niebory, Czech Republic near the Polish border.
The ceremony was to commemorate the 140 years since the birth of Mr. Karol Pawlica, who was one of the key figures in the effort to get Polish Siberian Children to Japan.
Until last year, Karol Pawlica’s efforts were rarely mentioned in the history of Siberian Children, however the discovery of historical facts began when a distant relative, Mrs. Jadwiga Halicka, donated documents to the Polish Cultural and Educational Centre in the Czech Republic.
The ceremony began with a floral tribute at the cemetery in Niebory, followed by a Kendo performance, an origami workshop for children as well as miso soup tasting for the participants.
Polish Cultural and Educational Centre invites you to contact them regarding information about Karol Pawlica.
